Subtitle Edit 2.0 Beta 1

Subtitle Edit 2.0 Beta 1 (build 42401) is now available for download.

Most features from previous version should still exist - in an improved version :)

Other changes are:

  • Can now read and write UTF-8 and unicode files (besides ANSI)
  • Swedish to danish translation built-in
  • Google translation built-in
  • Uses Open Office 2.x spelling correction (many dictionaries available)
Subtitle Edit requires Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 or newer.

Thx for testing Guzeppi :)

Hi again Nikse :)

With the latest compilation the Spellcheck is not activating. Either through the toolbar button or the dropdown menu.

BTW If I may make a suggestion.
A small one, if it's not too much coding needing.

The fix common errors tool, the check boxes: Could they be made to stay ticked or unticked from one use to another?

Thanks for everything!

OK, should work now :)

It does work now :)

By the way, another feature users should know about:

Subtitle Edit now also opens .MP4 files (which together with H264 codec are becoming more and more the standard downloaded file)

Magic!!

P.S. Editing the Settings.xml file, I changed subtitlemaximumlength from the default 68 to 56. This is another new feature, as it was not possible to access/change this variable in V1.8! As regards to Version 2 this seems to be the only variable setting that does not have a GUI user command yet.

Excuse my terminology, not sure if these are the correct programming terms ;)

Thx again :)

Now max-line-length is accessible via the settings window.

Nice. It works great. I hope it was not too much trouble ;)

But I have a problem now.....

I can't think of anything else worth adding :)

Thanks. Wonderful job!
