Getting spell check dictionaries will work in beta 2.

The (subtitle display) font settings are not saved properly, i.e. they revert (partially, step by step) to Times New Roman (in the subtitle editor's lines, in the "fix common errors"' found dialogue, and finally in the subtitle editor's time cells)...

@YAUser: On what OS? XP?

"Hearing Impaired" lines that are not handled correctly ('-' either removed or not inserted):

1) -[Rogue][br /]I'll see you later.[br /]- Okay.
2) [Storm]Cerebro.[br /][Magneto][br /]There it is.
3) This is all my fault.[John][br /]Actually...

The break tags where converted from greater than and less than signs by the site.

@sialivi: Check latest update. Any better?

posted by sialivi at 11-15-06 4:55 PM
Yes, thanks. Some new issues appeared though:

1) A-[br /][John][br /]A mutant?
(If the first line ends in a dash, no new dashes are added)

2) - Aw, save it. Storm?[br /]- [Storm][br /]We're outta here.
(an extra dash is added at the start of the 1st line)

3) is the body of a mutant kid[br /]on the 6:00 news.
(this one is quite bad, everything before the linebreak is is removed)

@sialivi: Could you check latest update again?

posted by sialivi at 11-15-06 10:10 PM
Thanks, works. Some more problematic lines:

1) They're trying to kill me.[br /]-Well, maybe Batman can save you.

2) They won't let us leave.[br /][TV] Authorities[br /]refused to comment...

3) [Storm] Where are they?[br /][Mystique] They're being held[br /]in a containment cell one level down.

@sialivi: Yet another update. Could you test again?

1) Should be caught in "Fix common errors" I hope. Not really a case for "Remove text for HI" even though it's related.

posted by sialivi at 11-16-06 12:38 AM
Yeah, I should have made that clearer. More issues:

1) It seems the "Remove text before colon" checkbox doesn't do anything anymore, seems it's always active.

2) Also, "Only if text is UPPERCASE" ought to be disabled when "Remove text before colon" is unchecked, or automatically check both checkboxes.

3) We must know who they are,[br /][Woman] That's right!
(no dash inserted when HI is removed)

4) [Chuckles,[br /]Coughing][br /]But we lived through it.
(detected but not removed by HI)

@sialivi: Again. Works?

1) Ups, the check was completely gone. Fixed.
2) OK, Fixed.
3) Impossible to fix I think...
4) OK, Fixed.

Could you add the RSS for posts and comments? It will facilitate the tracking of SE development.

posted by nikse.dk at 11-17-06 11:51 PM
@vmb: I don't know much about rss... something like this: http://www.nikse.dk/rss

posted by vmb at 11-18-06 12:27 AM
Thank you. In Google Reader and Firefox everything is OK, except raw HTML tags in old posts (http://www.nikse.dk/Home/Details/634347892780000000, for example). It seems as double escaping in the code:

<br />

instead of

<br />

And it still lacks comments (there are many links to alpha patches in them), but I understand it is very complicated thing to create RSS also for them. Maybe you will add e-mail subscription some time in future:)

Thank you so much for post-RSS.

posted by vmb at 11-18-06 12:30 AM
Oops. In preview the code was raw, but after posting code have been parsed. Sorry, may be you will be able to test it in the Google Reader or Firefox.

(from previous vmb)

Sorry for so many comments. I've tried to register (new user link), and there were fields for username and so on, but no button to submit the form (ENTER did not work either). I log in via Google, but may be you should check the registration form. Sorry.

posted by nikse.dk at 11-18-06 1:07 AM
@vmb: Fixed double encodings in rss.

@vsemozhetbyt: No "Save" button? What browser are you using?

posted by vmb at 11-18-06 1:33 AM
@nikse

Firefox 6 (alpha). I logged out and tried to register once more. The "Save" button was under the form. Hm. Sorry, maybe there was a temporary problem in Firefox alpha.

RSS is OK now, thank you.

@nikse

I just came across a VOB file with RLE subtitles, these are not currently supported, correct?

posted by nikse.dk at 11-19-06 10:35 PM
@sialivi: I thought all vob subpictures were RLE encoded!?
Can SE read the extracted sub/idx file?
Also, SE cannot read encrypted vob subpictures.

posted by sialivi at 11-20-06 12:32 AM
@nikse

Yeah, I'm an idiot. All the problems I were having with this particular file turned out to be due to a corrupt subtitle stream.

thanks for new feature, very, very helpful
"POINT SYNC VIA OTHER SUBTILE"

this is nice one m8
cheers

In the last patched beta (one of the comments above) there is no "Make new empty translation from current subtitle" menu item and the "Show original text in audio/video previews" does not work.

Sorry for my English, I have error when i use visual sync

"Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Source: SubtitleEdit

StackTrace:
at Nikse.SubtitleEdit.Logic.Utilities.InitializeVideoPlayerAndContainer(String fileName, VideoInfo videoInfo, VideoPlayerContainer videoPlayerContainer, EventHandler onVideoLoaded, EventHandler onVideoEnded)"

I can use control buttons normal in "Start scene" but cant use any buttons in "End scene". And when i close visual sync window, video continues to play until i exit program.

This error only happens in ver 3.2, ver 3.1 is normal

posted by nikse.dk at 11-21-06 10:40 PM
@sialivi: He, happens;) Also, SE cannot read ALL vobsub files...

@vmb/ndtien: thx, should be fixed now.

posted by vmb at 11-21-06 11:26 PM
@nikse: I see in the last betas you start to work on selection thing I've written in the forum. Thank you for this and for the last fixes.

When removing HI-text:

FEMALE REPORTER: Palm City
Police are out in force today,

becomes

- Palm City
- Police are out in force today,

In other words it thinks it's two different persons talking because of the caps P in Police.

posted by sialivi at 11-25-06 12:53 AM
Regarding the above issue:
It's quite common that these cases are in fact two different people speaking, but in this particular case it would be nice if it took into account that the first line lacks punctuation.

posted by nikse.dk at 11-25-06 12:21 PM
@aMvEL/sialivi : thx, should be fixed now (checks for ".!?" at ending of previous line).

Doesn't seem to work...

[SPEAKERPHONE] Anyway, a couple[br /]
weeks ago, I bought new radials from him.

turns into

- Anyway, a couple
- weeks ago, I bought the new radials from him.

Some mess in the settings (it seems as a codepage problem):

@sialivi: Could be fixed here: SubtitleEdit.zip

@vmb: Yeah, very annoying that XP has so poor unicode support (fixed to hardcoded font in version above).

Also, rss feed can now show comments:

Oops, it seems to be not fixed yet:
